I am in a unique position to appreciate the idiosyncrasies manifested by people with mental health issues, and follow their behaviors from sensory inputs and activation of thoughts and emotions through neural circuitry, ending at different areas of the brain. It is commonly understood that humans learn through experience, store the memory in a long-term memory store, and retrieve the memory into a working or episodic memory store while they plan their behavior. Each of these processes occur in different parts of the brain, or in several parts joined by circuitry. Thinking can be conceptualized as a "virtual machine" similar to a computer's virtual machine. This virtual machine, created by neural circuitry can be understood and interventions can be created to pin point switches responsible for self-destructive behavior.
